Our School is a Catholic year 1-8 Primary school for both boys and girls located in the town of Methven, Mid Canterbury, New Zealand. The school comprises of 3 classrooms to cater for our growing roll of approximately 60 pupils.

The school is well resourced with computers in each room, 2 of the rooms have new interactive white boards to enhance teaching and learning . Two of the classrooms are new and the third has been refurbished, classroom furniture has been upgraded and the temperature is controlled by heat pumps. There is a separate library and a smaller room to allow our teacher aide support and extend the learning of individuals and groups.

Grounds: The school is set in 3 hectares of attractive grounds. We have two full size tennis courts, playing fields and a community swimming pool situated across the field. The sporting opportunities are the envy of many.

Setting: Our Lady of the Snows is situated in an intensive farming area in Ashburton District on the Canterbury Plains. A backdrop of mountains including Mt Hutt with its world renowned ski field. Outdoor activities include, golf, jet boating, heli-skiing and fishing. All children participate in school ski trips and the year 4-8 children also have a Friday Ski Option.

Methven Township: The permanent population is approx 1500 but swells in winter with skiers. There are a range of shops and a medical centre. Two pre-schools a play centre and in addition to the two pre-schools Mt Hutt College provides educational opportunities to the town. The Town lies 90kms from Christchurch and 30 kms from Ashburton. In 2013 Our Lady of the Snows School will proudly celebrate a century of providing quality, value based education to the young people of Methven and the surrounding area.
