Kate Sheppard House and Garden

Address:

83 Clyde Road, , Christchurch

A Christchurch function venue located in Ilam, next to University of Canterbury, includes the historic Kate Sheppard House with several meeting spaces, Verandah room for dining and a marquee site for larger events. An acre of enchanting gardens provide the perfect location for private wedding ceremony, photography and receptions, funerals, garden parties, charity events, product launches and conference dinners.

International and domestic tourists alike are welcome in group tour visits, where commentary is provided on the history of the house and it's relationship to the original owner - suffragette Kate Sheppard. Julia Burbury, the current owner of this character filled house, is also the resident gardener of this New Zealand Garden of Significance. This property is listed as a category one heritage site, and is treasured by both Christchurch and New Zealanders alike.

Past events at this venue include art auctions, corporate Christmas functions, wedding ceremonies and marquee garden wedding receptions. Product launches of garden furniture has also proven extremely successful, although this venue is certainly renowned for it's wonderful garden cocktail parties.

For catering there are four companies to select from, providing a variety in dining styles and meeting differing budget requirements. These include Lizzies Cuisine, Moveable Feasts, White Tie Catering and Continental Event Catering. BYO alcohol is permitted along with the appointed caterer to manage the license.

Throughout November and December a marquee is permanently set on the tennis court. Fully furnished and equipped with lighting and sound, this is a very cost effective venue option for events.
