The summer season for the country's top categories comes to an end this weekend at Hampton Downs with the Speed Works Events MotorSport NZ Championship and it's a stellar weekend of circuit action to bring championships to a close.

Topping the bill for this packed weekend of racing action will be the BNT V8 Holden, Ford, Toyota and Nissan racers as they battle it out for the honour of becoming the top V8 racer in New Zealand. The racing action has taken the drivers to tracks on the South Island as well as the North Island and it all ends in the North Waikato this weekend. Expect great racing and fireworks as Class 1 and Class 2 championships are won.

The Toyota 86 Championship also reaches its conclusion this weekend with the top up and coming tin-top talent in the country set to duke it out over the weekend around Hampton Down's twists and turns with not one, but two, Toyota 86 cars up for grabs as championship prizes. Nose to tail action is a guarantee and this event traditionally throws in a few surprises and a healthy dose of action. Definitely not to be missed!

Action is also a guarantee with the NZ V8 Utes which conclude their four round season at Hampton Downs. The 400 horsepower Ford and Holdens always put on a good show around the track and we know this one will be another epic for the seasoned campaigners who race in the class. Rubbing is racing in NZ V8 utes and it's always a great spectacle.

Adding to the V8 flavour of this season ender are the Central Muscle Cars, making their fourth appearance of the season on the Speed Works calendar. The field is genuinely world class and most of the cars are engineering works of art. They're fast too, often rivalling more contemporary categories for the weekend's best lap times. There's no greater sight than a field of such iconic racing machinery roaring over the hill and into Turn 1 at this track, and there will be four chances to see them race over the weekend.
The NEXEN Tyre Pro 7 Mazda Racing field are out once again, screaming their way through the weekend in their rotary powered RX7 and RX8 racers with a collection of MX5 racers in the field for good measure.

TRADEZONE GT1/2 and GT3/4 fields add mesmerising speed and engineering excellence to the weekend, as well as guaranteed action in each race as their handicap format plays out in two of three races each class has over the weekend. Watch out for the speed machines in GT1 as well - many packing upwards of 1,000 horsepower, with tons of downforce and super sticky tyres.
There's even more to look forward to believe it or not, with the mighty Pirelli Porsche Championship, the Motul Honda Cup and the Ssangyong Actyon Ute series all on the mega bill for the weekend.

And as if that wasn't enough, single seaters are represented in this season ending spectacular with the Hi-Q Components Formula First championship, one of the longest established categories in New Zealand and the field that produced many of our greats, including Scott Dixon and Shane van Gisbergen!

Watch out too for the third appearance at a Speed Works Events meeting of the stunning D1NZ drifting field, who will be in action on the Saturday evening at the track with their own blend of style and speed.

It should all make for a memorable weekend for fans and families and we are looking forward to toasting the season’s end with you. See you there!
