This workshop is a great opportunity to learn more about weaving harakeke and to complete a kete whakairo over the lengths of a weekend in a small group.

This workshop is suitable for you if you have basic weaving skills. This means you need to be comfortable with preparation of harakeke and weaving kono and/or konae and have a basic understanding of tikanga related to weaving. If you are unsure please contact me to discuss.

Materials and tools are provided; bring a notebook and/or camera if you wish to take notes (recommended) .

Cost: $210 (bring your own lunch/cafes close by), refreshments provided.
Booking: birgitmoffatt@gmail.com or direct through Tutere Gallery

I am a fibre artist and passionate about weaving harakeke since I first touched it. My husband taught me raranga harakeke when I came to New Zealand in 2011, and in 2018 I gained a Diploma in Maori Art(raranga).

I feel privileged being able to learn about Māori culture through weaving and speaking and I am looking forward to meeting you and sharing my knowledge of this beautiful art with you.
