To introduce and deepen our understanding on Buddhist philosophy topics we will be running a Sunday morning class over the next 4 weeks, with the aim to help participants gain a clearer understanding and some insight into the profound topics of Buddhism; each week we will discuss meanings, terminology and Buddhist concepts.

Geshe Nyima Dorjee (affectionately known as Geshela), the resident Tibetan monk and scholar from Sera Jey Monastery, has been the teacher in Christchurch since 2010. With a growing number of students and visitors we are able to offer a simple accessible way to start learning, studying and practicing.

Over the next four weeks a student of Geshela's will facilitate the discussions, topics and questions around different Buddhist concepts. This is open to beginners and more experienced individuals.

In addition the class will conclude with learning and practicing the breathing focus meditation. This will help pacify the over-active mind. We are often preoccupied with conceptual thoughts and the need to reduce this type of mind is the purpose of introducing breathing focus meditation. Through regular practice we can start to pacify the mind and see the positive and effective results.

No experience is required. The classes are no charge. Donations gratefully accepted.
