Origami Book Art

  • Sat 3 Aug, 9:30am – 1:30pm

Wellington High School, 249 Taranaki St, Wellington

Ticket Information:

Enjoy a half day of discovering how to turn a pre-loved book into a work of art. The technique involves folding only – no cutting at all. No books are harmed in the making of these art works!

Can’t bear to part with your, or your children’s, favourite books but would love to transform them into memories that you can display? Turn paperbacks and hard-covered books into pieces of art, using a range of fold designs. No previous experience needed!

By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to:
- Fold five designs into your books
- Have the skills to develop these designs into more complex patterns
- Read, transfer and construct and pattern of a heart onto a book
- Apply pattern transferring skills to use any book folding pattern

Some materials provided but bring a pencil, ruler, rubber and a minimum of 4 books (paperback or hard cover), one with at least 450 pages. The books need to be in reasonable second-hand condition – old “Mills and Boon” books would be ideal.
