The ReMakery

Join Hannah White - the founder of Kombuchur - to learn over two days how to make Kombucha. Kombucha is a fermented tea known for its health benefits. It is produced by fermenting tea using a scoby (yeast) commonly called a mother or mushroom.

Kia ora, my name is Hannah White and I am honoured to facilitate your Kombucha workshop.

Here’s a little bit about me. I grew up in Whangarei and now work as the Events & Accounts Manager at The Butter Factory. I enjoy working with kombucha in my spare time. I began experimenting with kombucha fermentation and flavouring in 2018, quickly discovering that working with kawakawa is my favourite way of creating kombucha.

The Workshops.

Tuatahi (1st day): Saturday 16th February 10am - 12pm. collecting kawakawa & making tea for kombucha.
Tuarua (2nd day): Sunday 17th February 10am - 12pm: bottle kombucha & set kombucha to brew.

Ticket price includes both Saturday & Sunday.

Both workshops will include protocol about working with kawakawa and a scoby of your own plus bottles of kombucha to take home - bring glass bottles to upcycle if you have them.

If you have specific things you would like to have covered within these workshops, please let us know what they are when you register.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

This workshop is held at The ReMakery. The ReMakery is an upcycle store and community space run by local volunteers. It focuses on keeping goods out of landfill and upskilling the community to learn how to do this.

We work together with community groups and organisations to share knowledge, space, skills and equipment. Our aim is to create a hub for the community to learn about all things waste and work together to reduce our community footprint.

Profits made go directly to Habitat for Humanity’s Home Programmes in order to help build a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
