Ireland's first inhabitants arrived around 12,000 years ago, and a rich tradition of fighting off and with invaders has peppered their history. In this course we look at history of Ireland, from her development as an ancient nation referred to in Irish poetry and myth through to her union, dissolution, reunification, and split up to the modern day.

From Vikings to Northern Ireland we will consider how major events have shaped this island, sometimes considered the first acquisition of the British Empire.
