Ticket Information:

  • Course fee including materials (BYO lunch): $90.00

Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

This workshop, new to our programme in 2019, will run on Sunday 7 April 2019 10 AM - 4 PM or on Sunday 22 September 2019 10 AM - 4 PM.

From dropping your first dot on the canvas, you’ll discover how easy it is to create your own patterns and designs. You will learn about the different tools and be guided through the techniques and you’ll leave with the skills to create more of your own designs at home.

You'll learn how to do dot painting. We'll look at different tools and different shapes and patterns. When you drop the dots on your material of choice, you will be able to make a piece of art-work(s) you can take home at the end.

During the day, we will be using two different designs of dot painting. The first is a mandala design - this design is very basic and an easy way to learn how to paint your dots on any surface. The second method is using dot painting based on images - I'll give some examples and will help you in drawing the initial sketch prior to starting the dot painting.

What should I bring? Your lunch plus an open mind and a willingness to enjoy the process. We'll provide tea and coffee in the staff-room for breaks. Your course fee includes all materials (value $14) and you'll paint two small canvases during the day.

Who should attend?
Anyone looking for an accessible introduction to the world of painting and art. Those looking for a relaxing and meditative pastime. Those looking to explore dot painting as a new method of expression.
