JAFA Poetry Slam is BAAAACK and proud to present our first event of the year: Chants of The Islands featuring Terisa Siagatonu!

This is our 2019 kick off show featuring Pacific voices with a special performance by international poetry superstar Terisa Siagatonu.

Friday April 8th
Doors at 7PM. Show 7:30PM.
All Ages venue.
$5 students.
$10 general admission.

Please note: This takes place at Cityside Baptist Church and there is NO open mic or open slam this month. We will kick off with our regular programming in May.

Featuring performances by Grace Taylor, Zech Soakai, Jai Selkirk, Fili Fepulea'i and Terisa Siagatonu.

Terisa Siagatonu is an award-winning poet, arts educator, community organiser, and mental health advocate born and rooted in the Bay Area. Her presence in the poetry world as a queer Samoan woman and arts activist has granted her opportunities to perform in places ranging from the White House (during the Obama Administration), to the 2019 Women’s March in San Francisco, to the UN Conference on Climate Change in Paris, France. Terisa is a recipient of President Obama's Champions of Change Award for her activism as a poet/organizer in her Pacific Islander community.
