Born in Takapuna but with deep ancestral roots in Australia, Elam alumni Beverly Rae depicts marginalised Aborigine women in vibrant paintings that portray a sense of loss, dependency and isolation.

The highly colourful Australian landscape to which they belong has always fascinated Beverly, with its sulphur heaps, white gum trees and red earth, and its unique wildlife.
