Wrap up warm for winter and dream of spring. When it arrives how will you celebrate? Why not join a belly dance class? My beginner term starts Monday, 16 September at 7pm. (The beyond beginner class starts earlier in September)

The 75-minute classes are a mix of at least an hour of learning the bellydance movement vocabulary plus you will learn about what makes "belly dance" belly dance – rather than just a dance with hips. This uses videos of dancers, interaction and mini-lectures on history, styles, music.

You don't need to be fit to start – or bare your belly – all adults are welcome to begin the journey.

I have been studying belly dance (and the associated Middle Eastern folk styles) for over 28 years and teaching for 22 of those. I have the experience to show you how to get your body to move if you are not used to hip work – or to extend you within my small class if you pick it up quickly. (In addition to my experience in class, I trained as a secondary teacher and I have completed two different courses on teaching dance and movement)

Pay by 13 September for discount ($90 for the 10 hours) – or signup with a friend ($170 for two). Otherwise it is $110 on the night.

Sign up now to learn to shimmy, undulate and hip drop.
