Among the first to use the internet as a platform for artistic experimentation, Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries consists of Young-Hae Chang from Korea and Marc Voge from the United States. Their work explores the dynamics of media, technology, and power in our connected world, and takes the form of deceptively simple computer animations using bold texts synchronised with music.

For this exhibition, Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries presents an hour-long package of five works, including Wa’ad, an 18-minute work about a Palestinian astronaut who lives on Mars with other astronauts. Together, the works use a style of informal monologues to ruminate on utopia – and its discontents. They explore themes of place, connection, exclusion and alienation through the experiences of likable characters who all seem to want to tell (or type out) their stories in Monaco typeface.

Saturday 1 December 2018 - 24 February 2019.
