This workshop is a perfect entry-point for those new to Zen meditation (“zazen”), and for those seeking guidance from a Zen teacher in how to integrate Zen practice into all aspects of their daily life.

Hogen Sensei will offer instruction in zazen and walking meditation, followed by a session of meditation practice. There will be opportunities to discuss cultivating practice at home and work, and to look into the role of the moral and ethical teachings.

Hogen Sensei has been engaged in formal Zen practice since 1978, and was in residential training at Zen Mountain Monastery for 12 years as a lay student and senior monastic. He currently divides his time between living with his family in Pennsylvania on a farm and as an assistant Zen teacher at the Zen Center of New York City. Hogen Sensei has visited New Zealand three times to lead a series of talks, workshops and retreats. He received dharma transmission in 2016.

Morning tea will be provided.
