It's back! The most popular 10000m race in New Zealand. There will be running packs of several different speeds to drag you to your PB. There will be a barbeque. There will be the chance to sit on the bank and cheer for your friends and clubmates. There will be sprinklers.

Supported this year by The Agency Group Limited.

Just because winter is over distance running and club running doesn't need to end. Let's reclaim the track for distance runners this spring. The Wellington 10,000m Champs are one of two opportunities that athletes have to run a fast 10,000m race before the end of the year. The other is Athletics Canterbury’s Twilight Meet at the new Nga Puna Wai Track on 28 December.

Both events are great opportunities for athletes who want to run a qualifying time for the World Cross Country Championship Team to go to Denmark next year. Sub 30 minutes is the qualification mark for senior men, sub 35 minutes for senior women and sub 32:05 for junior men.

Wellington Scottish is really hoping to see New Zealand send a full team to World Cross Country. It is the pinnacle team running for our sport and we really want to see NZ there in force again. Especially if the team is full of Wellingtonians!

We’re doing all we can with good pacing and big packs to get as many people as possible to the time they need to be eligible for selection.

If you know someone who should be representing NZ in Denmark tell them to book in Wellington 10/11 and Christchurch 28/12.
