The works in this exhibition are collaboration between the natural world and the artist.

Gail Batchelor; born in Christchurch; Batchelor of Fine Arts; painter, printmaker and photographer. For years Gail has visited her local reserve and been grateful for its healing and inspiration. The sights, sounds and smells lead her into awareness.

The wind blowing away her distractions and disturbances; the heat and cold slapping her into focus – out of her mind and into herself, inside everything.

The works in this exhibition are collaboration between the natural world and the artist. They have been achieved through simply living life and allowing that life to flow from the brush. They are mostly executed in oil, thinned and then dealt with in a spontaneous and gestural manner.

In this way she pays homage to the great Asian masters of calligraphy and spirit painting. She bows to their skills. The simplicity of their works, humble expressions of a moment in time, are by far, her greatest influences as an artist.
