This fundraising concert is to assist Thomas to complete the final year of the doctorate in Organ Performance and Literature at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He was recently the first organist in thirty years to be awarded Eastman’s coveted Artist’s Certificate.

In 2017 he was the first New Zealand organist since Gillian Weir to win first and audience prizes in the St Albans International Organ Competition. Thomas is also a laureate of the Tokyo-Musashino Organ competition, the Bach-Liszt Organ Competition in Erfurt/Weimar, Germany, and the Sydney International Organ Competition.

This Concert has been generously sponsored by the Goethe Society, Wellington. Thomas will give a pre-recital talk at 6.45 in the church about the thrills and challenges of competing in Germany on Bach’s organs and other historic instruments of the time.
