This exhibition is Dunedinite Amy Archer's first public artwork showing and can be seen in the Botanic Gardens Information Centre until the end of September.

At its heart is the connection between humans and the natural world, so after seeing the paintings pick up some duck food and get to know the avian members of the gardens!

"Through many intricate relationships, we are inextricably connected to the natural world around us. Trophic webs (or 'food chains'), species diversity, earth systems, and physical conditions are all things that affect our ability to survive and thrive, and conversely are all things that we are capable of modifying to varied extents through our choices.

This beautiful struggle of give-and-take is something we as humans have tried to remove ourselves from with innovation that aims to instead exploit without direct cost, but believing we are separate from this world that sustains us is as counterproductive as neglecting our own flesh."

Using the people in the artist's life as models to bring a personal touch, This Earth My Body is a call to reunite with our planet and to view and care for it as an extension of our very selves.
