For as long as science fiction has existed, we have been fascinated with the question – will robots be our friends or foes?

Helen Heath (Are Friends Electric?) with Dr Jo Cribb and David Glover (Don’t Worry About the Robots: How to Survive and Thrive in the New World of Work) discuss the impact of robots on our lives.

Naomi Arnold, who has written about how robots are being used in medicine and aged care for New Zealand Geographic, chairs.

Helen Heath’s first book, Graft, was published in 2012 and won the NZSA Jessie Mackay Best First Book for Poetry Award in 2013. It was also the first book of fiction or poetry to be shortlisted for the Royal Society of NZ Science Book Prize. She holds a PhD in creative writing from the International Institute of Modern Letters, Victoria University of Wellington.

Dr Jo Cribb has a portfolio career that includes consulting, coaching, directorships and leading an NGO. She is the former Chief Executive of the Ministry for Women and she was the Deputy Children's Commissioner. She has a doctorate in public policy and lives in Wellington.

David Glover is the former CEO of Learning Media, David Forman and various advertising agencies around the world. He is now Executive Director, Partnerships at Unitec, New Zealand's largest Institute of Technology, and a director of several technology businesses. David lives in Auckland.
