It’s 125 years since suffrage, but how far have we come? Lizzie Marvelly issues a wake-up call and a battle-cry for all Kiwi women.

In her first book, That F Word: Growing Up Feminist in Aotearoa, award-winning columnist, singer and blogger Marvelly tells the story of New Zealand's feminist roots, then traverses the modern landscape, tearing apart areas of gender imbalance and pervading attitudes to Kiwi women.

Chaired by Jessie Bray Sharpin.

Discovered by Frankie Stevens and her famous uncle, Sir Howard Morrison, in her early teens, Lizzie Marvelly was on the road as a musician from the age of 16. She has since had two top-10 albums and has toured internationally. In May 2015, she added advocacy to her oeuvre when she launched Villainesse.com, an award-winning online media project that brings together student and citizen writers and inspirational contributors.

In September that year, Lizzie launched Villainesse’s first major campaign, the globally-successful #MyBodyMyTerms. Its videos have been viewed over 500,000 times, and attracted press attention around the world. This led to a gigs as a Huffington Post contributor and columnist for the Weekend Herald. Lizzie has also appeared as a regular guest on current affairs programmes The Project and Marae. That F Word is her first book.
