Reconnecting Broken Connections: Using one Te Ao Māori approach of Whakawhanaungatanga and Hohourongo

In life, we all thrive when our health, wellbeing and connections – with oneself, our whānau, hapu, iwi, the whole of creation, the Cosmos and Papatūānuku (Mother Earth) are strong.

When we respect certain boundaries we are able to enrich and enhance these connections. If we don’t do this, connections are damaged and relationships can have a long-term effect on health and well-being. Māori processes of whakatika and hohourongo seek to identify, address and restore these connections and therefore enable reconciliation and healing.
