Christchurch's answer to Hyde Park Corner - come along and hear an interesting and totally diverse range of speakers on the topics of our day. Come to one, come to them all, or get in touch and take to the stage yourself!

Wensi, as he is known, is a prominent activist from West Papua. Come along and hear from him on his visit to New Zealand. He has been writing investigative reports and making films since 2006. He is the Papuan Voices project manager for the Jakarta-based Catholic Church group Justice Peace Integrity and Creation (JPIC MSC). Wensi’s role includes training and mentoring young Papuans in using cameras to document their struggle.

The camera is a powerful tool in the fight for justice. His mission is to document the plight of his countrymen under Indonesian occupation. His films include the documentary ‘The Forgotten Struggle: A Story of The Papuans' Struggle’ which tells the story of the Biak protest in July 1998 when in 1998 on the 6th of July, Indonesian military and police arrested many people and killed scores – many of whom were dumped at sea. Their crime – raising the West Papuan flag.
