Christchurch's answer to Hyde Park Corner - come along and hear an interesting and totally diverse range of speakers on the topics of our day. Come to one, come to them all, or get in touch and take to the stage yourself!

The range and scale of crises affecting organisations, from natural disasters to economic downturns, have resulted in an increased interest in organisational adaptability. Both employees and organisations must show agility and continually adapt to changing circumstances. This adaptive capacity, also known as resilience, can be described as the ability to survive or even thrive in the face of adversity and uncertainty.

In this interactive presentation, Sanna will introduce the concepts of employee and organisational resilience and provide research evidence from severe crisis situations. Discussion will focus on factors that have been shown to both build and hamper resilience.

Dr Sanna Malinen is a Senior Lecturer at University of Canterbury’s Business School. Her background is in organisational psychology, and she consults and researches in the area of organisational and employee resilience.

She is a lead researcher in the Employee Resilience Research group and a research consultant with Resilient Organisations. She has published widely in both academic and practitioner outlets.
