Sisu not Silence

Inspirational young Finnish woman Emilia Lahti is running 50 marathons in 50 days throughout New Zealand starting in January 2018 and will be in Wanaka Tues 23 January. An extraordinary speaker (even been at TedX), a peace activist and researcher and now an amazing runner, her focus is on helping us, as a global community, break the silence around interpersonal violence and to lead more extraordinary lives based on the SISU way of being.

Join us for an evening of uplifting stories about social impact and the power human spirit, while connecting with people in our own community who are passionate about building a more compassionate future with zero tolerance to abuse. The event will include a short speech from Emilia and an invitation to collectively explore our dreams and ideas about the future we wish to see and how might we help make that dream a reality in Wanaka and beyond.

If you are deeply called to honour and value yourself more, live in peaceful relationships and to really live boldly, (or you may just want to feel inspired to get your fitness levels up or take on your next bucket list challenge) come join together as a community. Doors open 6.30pm and Emilie's talk will get underway at 6.45pm.

Profits from ticket sales and koha opportunity on the night will be donated to Jigsaw Central Lakes in Queenstown who help people affected by violence to improve their lives by creating safer homes. They also work with offenders that want to change their behaviours and improve their family and individual situation. http://www.jigsawcentrallakes.co.nz/ We look forward to meeting their representative on the night.

The organiser Janelle Fletcher is a local Wanaka woman who has a natural flair in helping women through life's difficult transitions, changes and challenges. Nothing sings to her soul more than to help women finally see how incredible they are and to get our of their cage and fly! A women's empowerment and confidence coach, published author, story-teller and event-lover, she can't can't wait to MC on the night.

Lyn Brown is a certified practitioner of many years specialising in gentle healing modalities and nutrition. She supports needs that matter and is accommodating Emilia, her driver, nutritionist and film crew. A massive shout-out to Lyn and Ronnie for opening up their home, offering friendship and helping "fuel" Emilia for the next leg of her journey.

Please feel free to contact Janelle on 021 756 280 or janelle@janellefletcher.com with questions, offers of help or media enquiries. Should you also have friends around the country who would kindly host an evening as Emilia "runs" on through on the next leg of her marathon(s), then be in touch!

Sisu Not Silence is a registered nonprofit that is supported by It's Not OK and the White Ribbon campaigns. You can read more about Sisu Not Silence and Emilia at www.sisunotsilence.com.
