The University of Auckland School of Music is delighted to present alumni Simone Roggen (violin) in recital with Betty Lee (piano). Free admission. Registration recommended via Eventbrite.

Simone Roggen
Alumna Simone Roggen performs in various ensembles including Spira Mirabilis, Camerata Bern, Lucerne Festival Strings, Geneva Camerata, and as chamber musician and soloist in Switzerland, France and New Zealand.

In Switzerland she is the concertmaster of Opus Bern and Orchestra degli Amici, leads the second violins in the Berner Chamber Orchester, and is the first violinist in the chamber ensemble La Strimpellata Bern. 2017 saw Simone performing concerts in Israel, England, Spain, Turkey, Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto in New Zealand and Switzerland, followed by a tour of New Zealand with ensemble paladino in collaboration with Chamber Music New Zealand. In 2017 Roggen was invited to lead the BBC Symphony Orchestra in London in the Barbican under Maestro Sakari Oramo.

Betty Lee
Betty Lee graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland, studying under Bryan Sayer, before embarking on graduate study in Europe. Lee has performed at major venues including the Herkulessaal of Munich's Residenz, Vienna Konzerthaus, Prinzregententheater in Munich and Aachen Opera House, and festivals such as the Kurt Weill Festival in Dessau, and A-DEvantgarde festival in Munich.

Lee has performed as soloist with the Sinfonieorchester Aachen, Münchner Symphoniker, Bad Reichenhaller Philharmonie and Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, Lee has collaborated with members of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra, the Orquestra Simfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
