Cornwall Park

It's Friday night, come picnic it up at Cornwall Park and let the music come to you.

Bring your fav people - a date perhaps - and perch up in your favourite spot along the eastern end of Cornwall Park (from the entrance to Onehunga side), and our roaming musicians will come entertain you. You're welcome to follow them around too!

Spot the yellow Cornwall Park chairs and you know you’re in the right spot or check out our Facebook event page for clues.

On Friday 9th of February you will be listening to the sweet tunes of singer/songwriter Ellie Redmond, the classic and romantic pieces from the The Horn Duo and the operatic sounds of Timothy Burrell.

On Friday 23rd of February you will be entertained by the cheeky pantomime and music hall offerings of the Captain Festus Duo, the funk and jazz beats of Gianan/Waterson Duo and the blissful sounds of the Auckland Youth Orchestra.

Don’t miss out on this new musical experience.

*This event is weather dependent - please check www.cornwallpark.co.nz or our Facebook page for updates and extra information.

9th February:
- Ellie Redmond: Ellie Redmond is an acoustic singer/songwriter who will be performing covers and original material. She has opened for international acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, 10cc, and Starship.

- The Horn Duo: Ellen Bingham and Anita Austin, both members of the National Youth Orchestra, will be playing a wide range of pieces from baroque, classical, and romantic, including some old favs (think somewhere over the rainbow, meet the Flintstones etc).

They’ll be playing their “hose horns” - which are long tubes of metal coiled up, traditionally used as signaling instruments - and will have some for you to try too.

- Timothy Burrell: Get ready to be enthralled by a night of the classics by baritone singer Timothy Burrell. Since his recent return to New Zealand in 2015, his Operatic roles include Marco and Scrooge as a Young Man for Opera Factory. Last year he sang the bass solos in Schubert’s Mass in G with the Handel Consort and Quire.

23rd February:
- Captain Festus Duo bio
Captain Festus and his motley crew have been successfully infecting NZ for over 6 years with their cheeky humour and side-splitting songs. Regularly compared to Monty Python, Spike Milligan, and Benny Hill, this clever Vaudeville ensemble is a must see - more fun than a squirrel up ya jumper apparently. This latest voyage sees Captain Festus paired up with The Great Ebenezer, a dynamic duo guaranteed to fully rock ya’ boat! www.captainfestus.com

- Gianan - Waterson Duo
This dynamic duo will put a smile on your dial, presenting funk and jazz in a modern and interactive performance. The combination of guitar and drums gives a fresh sound to the local scene, with elements of RnB and Hip Hop in the mix too. Perfect way to end the week!

- Auckland Youth Orchestra
Auckland Youth Orchestra consists of some talented youngsters (up to 26 years) bringing you a collection of music, orchestra style. http://www.ayo.org.nz/
