This May, Think Inc. and Loop, the team behind the New Zealand tours of Dr Neil deGrasse Tyson, Dr Jane Goodall, and Dr Brian Greene are excited to bring two icons of scientific literacy and antitheism: evolutionary biologist and author Richard Dawkins, and theoretical physicist and cosmologist Lawrence Krauss, on stage and in conversation for Science in the Soul.

Science in the Soul will see Dawkins and Krauss discussing religious dogma, evolution and the glory and unending possibilities of science.

Doors Open 6.30pm / Show Starts 7.30pm

Both have long been regarded as being two names at the forefront of pushing back against tsunamis of irrationality in the public sphere, and take no prisoners. Revered for their unapologetic appraisals of critical thinking and equally-unapologetic takedowns of religion, the duo will weigh in on the current state of anti-scientific affairs with new leaderships, new attitudes, new irrationalities, and new news over two evenings.

A New York Times Best Selling author of The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker, and The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins is one of science’s greatest communicators. Voted as the world’s top thinker by Prospect Magazine, father of the ‘meme’, and a passionate opponent of creationism, Dawkins is one of the most polarising and provocative scientific minds of our time.

While he needs no introduction, Richard Dawkins’ seminal and creative forays into evolutionary science and religion cannot be overstated. Author of the unadulterated decimation of religious belief, The God Delusion, father of the ‘meme’, and passionate opponent of creationism, Dawkins is one of the most polarising and provocative scientific minds of our time.

His latest book, Science in the Soul, is a kaleidoscopic argument for the power and glory of science, and the importance of the scientific way of thinking in today’s ‘post-truth’ world. It is from this book where the show takes its name, and which will also serve as a jumping off point for the evening.

“I am greatly looking forward to touring New Zealand next year. I love the can-do friendliness down under,” says Dawkins.

One of the few true contemporaries of Dawkins, Lawrence Krauss is an impassioned advocate of scientific proliferation, education, and skepticism. Krauss is the Foundation Professor of the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University, where he directs the Origins Project. With his book The Physics of Star Trek, he aimed to quell the surge of superstition in popular culture, before examining everything and nothing about the origins of our cosmos in A Universe from Nothing. Krauss has since gone on to author or co-author more than three hundred pieces on cosmology and theoretical physics.

“I am thrilled to be returning to New Zealand with Richard,” says Krauss. Since Krauss’ previous visit to this part of the world, Krauss says “the whole world perspective has changed. More than ever, we need to speak out in favour of reason and evidence, now in the political spectrum and as well as the religious one.”

This May, join Think Inc., Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss as they strip the veneer of social complacency, to expose the truth about religion, evolution and the workings of our world.
