We proudly announce our new and expanded seminar. This seminar was previously called ‘Trusts and Welfare Guardianship’.

We have added more content and we emphasise this seminar is applicable to the general community, including of course our families dealing with disability.

This seminar will be of interest to you if:
- You worry about the long term welfare of your young person with a disability when you die – who will support them to make decisions about their personal care and welfare? And who will understand their needs and make decisions about their personal and physical welfare on their behalf if they are unable to do so?
- You need to understand the difference amongst welfare guardianship, power of attorney, property management and how a Trust may be useful for managing property
- You need information about the relevance of a Will and Letter of Wishes and how these might be useful
- You are concerned about managing and protecting assets or income of your young disabled person
- You are considering a family trust or sole beneficiary trust for management of assets

Nan Jensen – Barrister and Solicitor, Quinlaw:
Nan has been involved in the disability sector since 1998 in governance, advisory, support parent, advocacy and employee capacities. Two of her four adult children are on the autism spectrum, and she decided to study law after taking a successful arbitration case against the Ministry of Education about ORRS funding.

Her law practice with Quinlaw encompasses all aspects of family/private law as well as property and employment. She lives in Te Kowhai near Hamilton and works with clients all over the country thanks to the wonders of technology.

A resource table will be available with useful print material, free of charge. This is a lengthy seminar and we will provide light refreshments 15 minutes before the beginning of the seminar and break briefly for 10 minutes halfway through.

Disability Connect now charges $50 including GST for each professional (working in the disability sector) attending our seminars. This can be paid by cash, cheque (made out to our full organisation name Parent and Family Resource Centre Inc.) or direct debit.

We do not accept credit card or Eftpos payments. We are happy to send an invoice at time of booking of a professional and payment is required prior to attendance. Refunds will only be given if you cancel and this must be made at least 24 hours prior to the seminar. Please phone to cancel. There is no charge for parents or family members attending.
