The workshop is sponsored by Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) of Palmerston North City Council.

Lecturer introduction:
Chao Ren is an experienced filmmaker and film researcher, Ph.D. candidate in Griffith University, Australia, and former Lecturer in Beijing Film Academy, China.

Sessions introduction:
Session One (21/01, 13:00-16:00): After an introduction to the short documentary film, all participants will be grouped to shoot a short documentary film regarding their life with their most convenient equipment, such as a smartphone.

Session Two (28/01, 13:00-16:00): The draft film will be screened, analyzed and discussed. And participants will receive advice to improve their films.

Session Three (04/02, 13:00-16:00): The final films will be screened, analyzed and discussed in this session as well, and the best film award and other awards will be voted by participants themselves.
The final films will also be screened on online platforms and other appropriate occasions and events as well.

Participant note:
The participants will get to work with and learn from local filmmaker and film lecturer, and practice the whole film production process, and network with people who have the common interest in film production.

No entry requirement. Anybody is welcomed who is interested in film production, no matter with or without previous experience, and who is keen to participate in a practice of short documentary film production supervised by an experienced filmmaker and film educator.

Only one requirement for the participant is she/he have to make a commitment to attend all three sessions and accomplish group tasks discussed and assigned.

And also be noted that by signing up the workshop, participant agrees that all the material regarding the workshop can be used for the academic and/or promote purpose by the host of the workshop.

Please bring a valid photo ID when you attend the workshop.
