This exhibition aims to remove the stigma around mental illness and disabilities by opening up a discussion through art and design. The works look at how art-making processes provide ways of coping with mental illness and highlighting the importance of positive mental well-being.

Opulence in the context of this exhibition means the richness created not by material things but by the feeling of contentment when one overcomes life’s struggles. While material wealth brings joy and excitement to someone’s life, this experience is fleeting. Meaningful relationships and compassion are what makes a lasting sense of happiness.

Opulence is about living life to the fullest despite our downfalls. It’s standing back up when the world seems to push us down. Opulence aims to show that art and design can make a positive difference in coping with disabilities towards a fulfilling and happier life for all everyone.
