Wine Sentience

New Zealand has rapidly grown as a wine producing nation, with a veritable explosion of wineries, regions, varieties and styles over the past three decades from very humble beginnings. Internationally, we are known for crisp, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc and plush, fruity Pinot Noir. Locally, we enjoy our as yet (relatively) undiscovered Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Syrah and sparkling wines. But there is so much more to New Zealand wine than even that.

Come join the Wine Sentience team of MW, WSET and CMS-certified somms and educators on a 37-wine exploration of the tapestry that is New Zealand Wine in this NZ Advanced Course. We will span the length of the country, using the official New Zealand Winegrowers’ manuals as the theoretical backbone of the programme while discussing current trends in both major and minor varieties, highlighting regional differences and predominant winemaking influences. Be prepared for a stimulating journey of discovery and understanding of what New Zealand does best as well as glimpses into the future.
