Following last year’s successful event, the New Zealand Eating Disorders Clinic (NZEDC) is once again hosting Hope Night, to "inspire hope and advocate that recovery is possible."

Hope Night aims to generate conversations in a safe, non-confrontational environment. It’s an opportunity for those who’ve been through the difficult journey of recovery to speak to sufferers and instill hope that no matter how hard it feels, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

A panel of guests will include anorexia survivor turned “recovery coach” Millie Thomas – as well as people who attended the previous event as sufferers, and are now recovered. Hope Night will also screen a short documentary by Miriam Jacobs called Disorder.

Anorexia nervosa is the third most common chronic disorder affecting young females, and only 40-50 percent of sufferers will make a full recovery.

Anyone concerned about a loved one, or affected by an eating disorder themselves, is invited to come along and hear from those who can relate first-hand to the difficulties they may be facing.
