Original cabaret tribute to cool dads and their musical influence to have international premiere at Fringe 2018.

From Frank Zappa to Billy Ray Cyrus, Amy Winehouse to Eva Cassidy, dads and daughters in the spotlight have long been the subject of scrutiny and celebration - and are responsible for their fair share of dad jokes.

After a successful season at Melbourne’s key cabaret venue, The Butterfly Club, Tegan brings Miley, Moon Unit & Me to Wellington, NZ.

In this original work, actor and vocalist Tegan Jones takes audiences on a journey of the relationships between fathers and their daughters, focusing on female vocalists and the fathers who inspired them to sing.

Tegan intertwines her own stories about her father’s influence on her musical journey with those of famous singers. Some stories will surprise you, some will make you cringe in recognition and most of them will make you want to hug your father really, really tightly.

Miley, Moon Unit & Me is a heart-warming, entertaining and thoroughly unique show, featuring the foot-tapping “Cool Dad Medley”, a marathon effort of 29 songs squeezed into seven minutes.

Praise for Miley, Moon Unit & Me in 2017:
“When she channels Ella Fitzgerald, she hits her straps – and it’s no mere mimicry. Overall, the show is so direct, so natural and unforced, that a bond forms between Ms Jones and the audience, via the music, rather like the bond between Tegan and her Dad.” - Stage Whispers

“Tegan Jones has a big voice! Not only can she belt out showstoppers from major musicals like ‘Oklahoma‘ and ‘Les Misérables‘ with ease, but also seduce you with a warm salted caramel transition into jazz and blues.” - Weekend Notes

Tegan Jones began her musical journey at nine years old with a copy of the Spiceworld CD, thanks to her Dad. She is a Melbourne-based actor, vocalist and producer who has trained with Wendy Ward at the Ward Acting Studio in the Meisner technique in both Melbourne and New York. This is Tegan’s fourth cabaret; previous works including Blues in the Night (ACT, 2010) and Opposites Attract (The Butterfly Club, 2009).
