Collecting biographies of Women's Suffrage Petition signatories.

Alongside the He Tohu exhibition, Archives New Zealand and ManatÅ« Taonga — Ministry for Culture and Heritage have been writing and collecting the biographies of the 25,519 women (and some men) who signed the 1893 Women’s Suffrage Petition.

These biographies are being uploaded to NZHistory’s suffrage petition database and made available, via an interactive screen, to visitors to He Tohu.

At this presentation, Archivist Katherine C’Ailceta will give an introduction and update to the ongoing project to research and share the stories of the suffrage petition’s signatories, and will share some interesting histories recently uncovered

She will be followed by Thomasin Sleigh, DigitalNZ’s Community Manager, who will demonstrate how to use the 'story' feature on digitalnz.org to further illustrate and share the fascinating lives of the suffrage petition’s signatories.
