Whittaker's is thrilled to welcome back this very popular performer, who has been described as 'a major pianistic talent'. Wellington-born pianist and music educator Ludwig Treviranus takes part in many music-related projects in New Zealand, including performance, recording, publishing and pedagogy.

He gained a Doctorate in Music following postgraduate studies in Auckland (under Rae de Lisle) and America (under Read Gainsford). Currently based at the Albany School of Music, where he coordinates academic programmes geared at the institution's 250 (approx.) piano students, he also adjudicates at regional music competitions around NZ as well as continuing to appear on stage himself.

This event at Whittaker's will be the debut of Ludwig's current recital programme. Entitled 'Fantasy', the programme is an exploration of harmony and narrative through the music of JS Bach, CPE Bach, Mozart, Grieg, Scriabin, and Liszt. It includes not one but two fantasies: JS Bach's 'Fantasia in C Minor' and Scriabin's 'Sonata-Fantasy No. 2 in G-sharp Minor'. This concert will be, in a word, fantastic!

It is also the last of the five concerts of our 2018 Spring Concert Season. Summer is coming!
