Corner Bar

Vittorio Barbati and the team at Cornerbar Auckland are celebrating their shared love of beer and all things local this Spring, by inviting in some of New Zealand’s best brewers for an informative afternoon of brewing tips and tastings.

Kicking off the celebrations on Saturday 27th October from 3pm, Founder of award winning McLeod Brewery, Geoff Gwynne will be treating guests to exclusive tastes of 'Spring Sun' Belgian Wit 5% - the first time this beer will have been tasted publicly in Auckland, Paradise Pale Ale 5.5% - the brewery’s flagship beer and a Cornerbar favourite and the already sold out 802 #12 6.4% - Fresh, unfiltered IPA which Head Brewer, Jason Bathgate, believes is looking like the best tasting batch of the series so far, one beer fanatics will not want to miss.

On Saturday 10th November Cornerbar patrons will get to meet Logan Richmond from the hyper independent brewery Sawmill, a relatively new producer focused heavily on the ingredients they use to ensure a clean taste. All beer is unpasteurized which means a shorter life shelf, but with a pleasing vibrant flavour.

Join Logan for a taste of XPA - halfway between a IPA and a Pilsner - it's an under-promise over deliver scenario, East Coast India Pale Ale - a hazy, unfiltered, pale ale with intense aromas of orange and tropical fruit and a Raspberry Sour – A tart wheat beer brewed with hibiscus flowers and raspberries the perfect drop for thewarmer Spring weather, fruity, sour and refreshing.

Sten will be behind the bare on Saturday the 24th of November to showcase some new beers from Epic along with some
multi award winning favourites. Epic love big flavours and will surely be cramming in plenty of hops into the newest and freshest additions. Owner and Brewer Luke Nicholas is know for his love of dramatic hops and big punchy flavours. You don’t call a beer Epic unless you know its going to be good!

To complete the series, Guy... from Auckland’s stylish brewery Ubanaut will be manning the taps on Saturday 8th December, taking guests on a taste journey across the globe. Urbanaut, a made-up name meaning urban explorer, is a nod to the Owner’s worldly adventures where each beer expresses the flavour of a different suburb from around the world.

Ask Guy as many questions as you want while sampling a selection of their finest Pale Ales and Pilsners, including their latest release Le Marais Champagne Pilsner - A clean pilsner with hints of stone-fruit and citrus, white grape aroma, a sweet dry finish and elegant white bubbles and their Brixton Pale Ale - Fresh tropical fruits on the aroma of a well-balanced, full-bodied pale ale, that’s ideal for enjoying all afternoon. One taste may not be enough.
