After half a lifetime in Japan, NZ-born translator Geraldine Harcourt has recently moved to Wellington.

She is known for her translations of fiction by Yuko Tsushima (1947-2016), including 'Of Dogs and Walls' and 'Territory of Light' (Penguin Modern Classics, 2018).

She will talk about people and places the two friends encountered when they visited Wellington together for Writers & Readers Week 20 years ago, and the traces of Yuko Tsushima’s visit to New Zealand that can be seen in her work.
