Gemma new conductor.

Davies Mavis in Las Vegas.
Cresswell Piano Concerto No.2.
Mozart Symphony No.38 "Prague".

Michael Houstoun, one of New Zealand's most respected musicians, returns to perform Lyell Cresswell's second piano concerto, a work inspired by the chorales of JS Bach.

In 1787, Mozart visited Prague, also known as the Golden City, where he received a rock-star welcome following the tremendous success of his recent opera, The Marriage of Figaro. Admired and celebrated Mozart was the toast of the town. In between the parties and elaborate dinners, Mozart held the first performance of his 38th Symphony, "Prague", whcih astounded audiences and critics with it innovation and brilliance.

Inspired by a trip to Las Vegas during a BBC Philharmonic tour to the USA, Peter Maxwell Davis' "Mavis in Las Vegas" is a brash and sassy tribute to the Sin City.
