Discover the real story with Brendon and Philippa Burns, and friends. Labour Day commemorates the struggle for the eight-hour working day and New Zealand workers were among the first in the world to claim this right. Calling all workers and those who support them.

Come and meet Samuel Parnell (played by Brian MacNamara), the father of the eight-hour working day along with modern-day Marlborough workers toiling in our vineyards. Julie Neal from Thornhill and some RSE workers will be talking about current labour issues. This presentation celebrates Labour Day and the origins of the eight-hour working day whilst looking at current working conditions here in Marlborough.

Wine sponsored by Four Hawk Day Wine, refreshments provided. Gold coin entry.

Please RSVP by Friday 12 October to info@marlboroughmuseum.org.nz.

This event is part of the Summit Marlborough Heritage Festival.
