The word Karma is used widely in our society to express many different ideas - Destiny, Fate, Fault, Conse - quences of Action. The Buddhist view of Karma is vast in its effects and scope. Similarly, the word Transcen-dence is widely used and again, the Buddhists have a particular view. Simply speaking, Karma means ‘activity’ or ‘how things happen’ so in that case, what is transcendence?

In this talk Keith will open an investigation into these two subjects and how they are related. Though the talk will be from a Buddhist perspective, the subject is universal. It is not a matter of belief but of a study of ‘how things are in themselves’. Therefore, the talk could be useful for anyone regardless of their beliefs. Having said that, the matter is complex and the talk may result in more questions than answers! All are welcome to join in.

Keith Rowan has, since 1973, travelled 5 continents studying Buddhism. He has been privileged to have had teachings from many of the greatest Buddhist masters of our time. He has been sharing the Dharma and facilitating retreats for over 20 years in several countries. Keith’s real skill though, is in taking the core essence of Buddhism, and making it accessible to the western mind and practical for today’s world.
