Jarni Blair

Jarni Blair is a New Zealand based musician & singer-songwriter.

Brought up by a creative family, it was only natural that Jarni developed a passion for music. After learning to sing and play guitar at age ten, he went on to nurture his abilities by performing in several bands throughout his school years, and in his last year at high school, he made the transition into solo performance and songwriting.

Inspired by his father’s record collection and a mixture of modern artists, Jarni’s writing style is heavily influenced by The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jeff Beck, John Mayer, and countless others.

Jarni has just released his debut E.P. "Between Two Dreams" and is now living and playing music in Auckland, New Zealand.

Example of set list:
Ain't no sunshine, Heart of gold, I'm on fire, Cool me down, So true, It doesn't matter, What you know about, Free (Donovan Frankenreiter), Don't know why (Norah Jones), Knocking on heavens door, All along the watchtower, Layla, Cocaine.

Sitting, waiting, wishing, Flake, Staple it together, Good people, Belle/Banana Pancakes, Steal my kisses, Diamonds on the Inside, Three little birds, I shot the sheriff, Message in a Bottle, Keep it loose keep it tight (Amos Lee).

Sunday morning, Under the Bridge, The lazy song, Big jet plane (Angus & Julia stone), Drift away (Dobie Gray), Babylon I got a woman.

Jasper Hawkins was born and raised in Nelson, New Zealand, and now lives in Auckland where he performs on a regular basis. His passion lies in both playing music and song writing. He also has a love for the instruments themselves which led him to taking Paddy Burgin’s guitar making course in Wellington in 2011.

The guitar he made (named Stevie) is a beautiful OM style guitar based loosely on a martin construction. It has a beautiful dynamic response and Jasper often uses it during performances along with his Cole Clark Fat Lady. He regularly performs his original compositions with a band and also plays solo acoustic shows. Jasper’s style has evolved over the years and he is best known for his raw yet smooth vocals and colourful finger picking style that creates a dynamic set with one voice and one guitar.

He also performs his music with other talented Auckland musicians which adds a whole new dimension to the experience. He is an energetic performer and enjoys engaging the audience by telling the stories behind his songs. One particular fan summed up his music in the following way.
