Big Screen Session #3: Darcell Apelu

The third and final ‘Big Screen Session’, created by Darcell Apelu, is a video work that examines spaces in Aotearoa that could ‘belong’ through specific imagery, to the Pacific. Her morphing images create a shift between her learnt understandings of being Niuean/Pākehā and her actual lived experience.

This project is the last of three ‘Big Screen Sessions’, which has focused on video and performance based work. This series has been part of a year-long emphasis on art by Māori and Pacific Women, to mark the 125th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage in Aotearoa.
