How to be an Effective Leader
Hear from Stacey Hitchcock about how to be an effective leader. Stacey is the youngest member of the New Plymouth District Council and has run various youth events in the past.
Take part in a ‘Minefield Obstacle Course’ where everyone learns how to lead. The winners will be determined by most effective and not the fastest. Winners receive a prize each!

28th August
How to Make Connections
“It’s who you know” – have you heard this saying? Making authentic connections with people is just as important as having the right skills and experience.
Learn networking skills and how to manage difficult relationships.

4th September
How to Manage Your Time More Effectively
Time management is important for all areas of life from personal to school to work.
Learn some tips and tricks using technology.
Learn how to prioritise with an interactive demo.

11th September
Solve a Community Issue Part 1
Hear about a community issue and gather in teams to work on a solution to the issue.
Come up with a well-thought-out idea you think would be the best solution, whether that’s a product, events, a software concept etc.

You will have one week to work on your idea. Come back the next week and present it (no public speaking skills required). Use the week to gather more evidence and support from others as to why your solution will work.

The team that provides the best solution will win a prize each.
Receive guidance from mentors as you work on your idea.
Individuals can be placed into teams on the day. Teams can be 2-5 people. A physical solution isn’t necessary, just the idea formed into a proposal so that we can understand how it will solve the issue. You will not be judged on presentation but how well the idea itself will solve the issue.

18th September
Solve a Community Issue Part 2
Present your solutions.

25th September
Amazing Race
Work in teams to get the next clue, complete all tasks correctly, first team back wins a prize.

Food provided.
