April 19, 1993: On a remote property in Waco, Texas, 76 members of the branch Davidian cult died when their compound caught fire, after a 51 day stand-off with the FBI.

Among the dead was a New Zealand woman. How did she come to join the group, and what events transpired to lead her to this tragic end?

Join us for the launch of 'Hearken O Daughter' by Grace Adams and Poia Alpha, former members of the Branch Davidian cult and sisters to the New Zealander who lost her life that day. They share their personal story of their journey in and out of the cult, detailing the early days, “bombshell” teachings, culminating into one man’s excessive power and control over the minds of the people.

Their account is transparent and intentional in purpose, with a recovery section providing hope, healing and help for those who have been connected to spiritually abusive groups.

This event will be held in the ground floor events space.

Grace Adams is a member of the International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA). She is an author and speaker. Grace has given many presentations and workshops on cult awareness in Colorado and New Zealand. She resides in New Zealand.

Poia Alpha joined the Branch Davidian cult in Waco, Texas in late 1986 and left in early 1990. For over 30 years, she has kept her story in the shadows to allow time for healing and recovery. Poia worked as a Social Worker and, for most of her career, as an Educator in New Zealand schools. She resides in New Zealand.
