St Peter's Cathedral, 51 Victoria St, Hamilton

All Ages

Back by popular demand, the Hamilton Civic Choir’s Sing-in Messiah event will give singers of all ages, experienced or not, the opportunity to sing the famous “Hallelujah Chorus” and other favourite movements from Handel’s masterpiece, The Messiah.

On Sunday the 9th of December, St. Peter’s cathedral will once again resound with the sound of Handel’s music sung with gusto and enthusiasm. The event begins at 1.30pm and the chosen excerpts are practiced and perfected for a couple of hours.

The famous Hallelujah Chorus is, of course, compulsory for an event like this, but there will also be a variety of other choruses and solo parts chosen by the Conductor and Organist for the event, well-known musicians Nick Forbes and Timothy Carpenter.

The format is simple, the experience is a lot of fun, and all are welcome. Singers are asked to register in advance, and to bring their own score if they have access to one, though there will be some scores available to borrow for the afternoon. After a sociable afternoon tea, the participants will troop back into the cathedral at 4 pm and sing the excerpts they have learned to an audience of family, friends and anyone who wishes to come along.

When: Sunday 9th December, 1:30pm (registration), 2pm – 4pm (rehearsal), 4pm - 4:30pm (mini-concert)
Cost includes afternoon tea.

Registration: Text Jo on 021 448 383 or email - secretary@hamiltoncivicchoir.org.nz
