Boost your child's guitar or drum skills these school holidays.

Rock & Pop Academy is the only school-holiday programme on the Hibiscus Coast dedicated to accelerating your skills on guitar or drums.

Intensive half-day courses hosted by music professionals boost your current learning with new and exciting live skills (aimed at Year 6 students and above who have been playing for at least 1 year).

- Learn pro secrets to nailing songs fast
- Effective habits of a good stage musician
- How to jam with musicians of any level
- Discover how to overcome stage nerves
- Session ends with a live performance and
- Chance to perform at a local jam (Thurs night)

Students will be grouped with other students of similar ability where possible.
Students should bring their own guitar and amp (if electric guitar), leads, tuner (if they have one), lunch, water, snacks.
Please let us know if your child has any learning difficulties or food allergies.

Your hosts:
Originally from the UK, Phil has been in touring bands for most of his life, travelling to Europe and the United States as a performer. A guitar teacher for over 2 decades, he is passionate advocate of students learning from live situations. He coaches guitarists of all levels to transition from bedroom players to playing onstage at jams and open mics.

He has performed as Jimi Hendrix in New Zealand’s Hendrix Tribute show: The Hendrix Project and most recently he has performed with members of Simple Minds, The Pretenders and DD Smash.

Glen Child - Drums
Originally from London, Glen is head of Music at Carmel College and is an in-demand drummer. He has played with a variety of NZ acts including the Lady Killers, Annie Crummer and Jonny Love. A graduate of the Royal College of Music’s Drumtech, Glen's biggest gig to date was opening for Eric Clapton (with Danny McCrum band) at the Vector Arena.
