Are you interested in how to garden organically? This course will be of great value to anyone seeking a healthy alternative to conventional food production.

The knowledge can be applied not only to food crops but to cultivation of any plants from home gardens, orchards, shelter beds, and woodlots.

Topics covered include:
Organic philosophies; Soil management; Soil food webs; Composting; Worm farms; Companion planting; Crop rotation; Green manures; Weed, pest & disease management; Fruit pruning; Plant propagation.

Programme structure:
The course is 10 x 3hr sessions. 1 evening/week for 7 weeks and 3 Saturday mornings for practical activities which includes - site & soil evaluation; soil cultivation and planting; make a no-dig garden; build a compost; manage a worm farm; brew compost tea; manage pests and diseases without harmful chemicals; propagate plants from seeds and cuttings; fruit pruning.

A class garden will be planned, developed and maintained during these sessions.
Students will be issued with comprehensive notes for each topic.

This is a user pays course and is available to NZ and international residents alike. This fee covers comprehensive notes for each topic and all course materials. The fee for 2017 Spring Enrolment is $210*.
