Shadbolt – McCormick – “Down But Not Out…!”

Following a sellout tour of twenty-three golf courses – the “heartland of New Zealand,” (as McCormick puts it) in an attempt to understand why Jacinda Adern and Labour won the last election and not their own Pull Yourself Together Party, Gary McCormick and Mayor Tim Shadbolt have had to concede that the better woman won on the day.

“To be honest with you, I saw it coming,” says Gary McCormick, who resumes his role as a more FM breakfast host, “I said to Mayor Tim: this woman will stop at nothing and will probably have a baby to cement her political capital. As it turned out, I was right!”

Mayor Tim was one of the first to congratulate the new Prime Minister.

“I admire her ruthlessness. As the longest serving Mayor in New Zealand history, I have towed many concrete mixers in my time just to make sure that I remain a Mayor. I hereby announce my determination to stand again for the Mayoralty on Invercargill. With global warming, Invercargill will soon be a tropical paradise!”

The pair will resume their occasional public gatherings as they rebuild the broken vessel that is the Pull Yourself Together Party.

“We welcome feedback,” says Mayor Tim, “which like most political parties, we feel free to ignore! But come along and have your say.”

Gary McCormick has the final word...
“You’d have to say of our current Prime Minister, that time was on her side.Tim and I have a bit of time on our side – some of which was spent in places you weren’t allowed to leave!

But the Pull Yourself Together Party now has a great incentive to be more interesting than Simon Bridges.”
