Taranaki Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Adam Jasinski, presents French Flair, a ravishing selection from the best of French composers.

Prize-winning pianist, teacher and Naxos recording artist, Matteo Napoli, is soloist in the exotic and demanding Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No 5, The Egyptian. After a distinguished career in his native Italy and across Europe, Napoli is now resident in Auckland.

Among his notable students are Naoki Toyomura who went on to graduate from Eastman School of Music and Flavio Villani, with whom he appears in the NZ film Crossing Rachmaninoff.

The programme opens with Le Tombeau de Couperin, Ravel's moving tribute to friends who fell in WW1, and concludes with César Franck's magnificent symphony in D minor.
