10 am 'Jean de Florette' (PG) 118 mins
Classic French movie starring Gerard Depardieu on the big screen after 32 years !! In this acclaimed French drama, the enterprising Ugolin Soubeyran (Daniel Auteuil) returns to his native countryside after the serving in the military. Intent on growing expensive flowers, he conspires with his uncle, Cesar (Yves Montand), to gain access to a hidden spring on a neighbouring property. When their initial attempt to buy the land fails, they must contend with Jean de Florette (Gérard Depardieu), who arrives with his family to work the coveted plot and turn it into a profitable farm. Admission $12, $10 concessions and $7 under 14 yrs

12-30pm 'Faces - Places' (PG) 2017 89 mins
Shown at last year's NZ International Film Festival and Academy Award nomination for best doumentary feature. Visages villages Directed by Agnès Varda and JR. In this utterly charming documentary, octogenarian French director Agnès Varda takes to the road with the young photo-muralist JR, creating artworks, looking up old friends and finding new ones. 88-year-old Agnès Varda, working in collaboration with the young photo-muralist JR, reminds us that big themes can live in small places – and that every life yields something to celebrate. As the two travel across France, looking up old friends and creating artworks from photographs of the people they meet, a friendship blossoms, and with it a wonderful free flow of ideas and observations. “She is nearly 90; he is 34. She worked with Jean-Luc Godard; he looks like Jean-Luc Godard (and, much to Varda’s consternation, will similarly not take off his sunglasses). And yet, the movie is barely five minutes old before it’s clear that these two are a screen duo for the ages. Admission $12, $10 concessions and $7 under 14 yrs

2-15pm 'Mune - Guardian of the Moon' (G) 85 mins
French film with English narration Animation film suitable for all ages. Wonderful, Charming, Cheeky and lots of Heart for the Whole family, in the Ghibli storytelling tradition and imagery. It has a blend of 3D animation and 2D dream sequences. It seems like a fairytale you should know but have forgotten. And thats the pity, the storytelling is great, the animation is lovely and English voice actors did a great job. It's the story of the Sun and the Moon, and the Guardians that protect them. This animated feature deserves an audience. Do yourself a favour and grab it. Admission $12, $10 concessions, $7 under 14 yrs and Family ticket, 2 + 2 $30
